Earlier this week, Nuggets head coach Michael Malone trolled Lakers star LeBron James while on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
Malone, who just led the Nuggets to their first NBA championship, took a shot at James for talking about retirement at the end of the Western Conference finals.
“Speaking of the Lakers, this is breaking news, I’m thinking about retiring,” Malone joked.
Moments ago, James fired back at Malone on Instagram.
James posted a picture of him at the 24 Hours of Le Mans along with an emphatic caption.
“In Europe for the last past few weeks minding my business and I hear I’m on your mind that much huh??? I mean I guess I see why. But Wave the flag on these lames!! Please make being player cool again cause the lame machine is at an all-time high,” James wrote. “Enjoy your light but just know I’m the SUN. I stay on forever!”
It’s safe to assume that’s a shot at Malone.
At the end of the day, the Nuggets got the last laugh. They swept the Lakers and then defeated the Heat in the Finals.
That being said, NBA fans wouldn’t mind seeing a legit rivalry form between the Lakers and Nuggets.
