The Los Angeles Lakers won Game 4 of the 2020 Western Conference Finals on Thursday night, taking a 3-1 series lead on the Denver Nuggets. It was a very competitive game, as LeBron James and Anthony Davis led the Lakers to a gritty win that came all the way down to the end.

The Lakers, the NBA, and most of America had heavy hearts over the past 24-48 hours following a Kentucky grand jury’s decision on the murder of Breonna Taylor that happened during a police drug raid on a house she was in. The raid happened in March, with a decision finally happening Wednesday. There were no charges against the police officers involved related to Breonna Taylor’s murder, but instead, one of the three officers received three felony counts of wanton endangerment for shots that were fired by him that made contact with neighboring apartments.

During his post-game interview on the court, LeBron James was asked about Breonna Taylor and had the following to say (courtesy of the NBA on TNT):

LeBron James, many other players, and the NBA as a whole have wanted to keep the conversation on the current social injustices in America against Black people, as Black people continue to be a victim of police brutality in America. Breonna Taylor’s death has been talked about often by many in the NBA, as one of the approved jersey social justice messages was devoted to her (“Say Her Name”). Many have been upset about the grand jury’s decision regarding her death, as many are sick of Black lives in America being treated like less than white lives in America. LeBron James, Alex Caruso, and Danny Green reacted to the decision on Twitter and in media sessions yesterday, as you can tell the mostly Black community of the NBA is hurting.

We really have to make Black Lives Matter in America.
