Alex Caruso made us all proud by bringing home a ring for the Los Angeles Lakers. He didn’t get a bunch of triple-doubles or highlight reel passes like most lead guards, but he did enough to etch himself into Lakers lore. Caruso started one game in the playoffs, which was the closing Game 6 in the NBA Finals.
Prior to the Lakers and Caruso embarking on a year-long season, he was the apple of many team’s eye. Lakers assistant coach Mike Penberthy spoke with Lakers Daily about their pursuit during the season:
“Every time we wanted to do a trade in the offseason or before the trade deadline, every team wanted Alex Caruso,” he told Lakers Daily. “He’s known throughout the league and respected throughout the league.”
It’s great to see the Lakers’ belief in Caruso. Their recognition of his worth paid off in a huge way. Who would’ve guessed that a G-League prospect would solidify a core led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis. As the new year appears right around the corner, teams are sure to come knocking again. The Lakers have been linked to other point guards such as Chris Paul and Derrick Rose, reportedly.
Here’s to hoping that they continue to believe in the balding glory that is the Carushow.
