Per Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times, DeRozan and Kyle Lowry – former Toronto Raptors teammates – have interest in joining the Lakers this summer. Both are massive needs for a Los Angeles Lakers team in need of more offensive play-makers.
The DeRozan-to-Lakers fit makes plenty of sense. He’s from Compton, California and played his college basketball at USC. Will he return to L.A. this offseason? He appeared to react to the rumor via Twitter on Friday.
DeRozan appeared to have a one-emoji respone to Turner’s report. He tweeted an emoji of an individual looking at a laptop. It appears he’s seen the rumor.

This could, of course, have no relation to the Lakers rumor. But it appears to be more than just a coincidence.
The real question for DeMar DeRozan is would he be willing to take a pay cut to join the Lakers? Los Angeles is strapped for cash this offseason. The organization is going to have a tough time making significant roster upgrades.
DeRozan may have his eyes set on a championship, though. He has yet to win one. Taking a pay cut to sign with the Lakers could be his best chance to finally help a team win an NBA Finals.
If the Lakers can somehow land the talented veteran guard, they’d once again be the favorite to win the Western Conference.
