Ever since NBA free agency tipped off on Monday, the Los Angeles Lakers have been going all out on new roster additions.
As of yesterday, Rob Pelinka and the front office added 12-time All Star Carmelo Anthony, former No. 11 pick Malik Monk, former All-Rookie First-Team guard Kendrick Nunn and four former Laker veterans in Trevor Ariza, Wayne Ellington, Dwight Howard and Kent Bazemore.
The Lakers also re-signed 20 year-old guard Talen Horton-Tucker and added superstar point guard Russell Westbrook by way of trade last week.
With this new-look roster, many believe the 2020 NBA champs are poised for another title run.
Colin Cowherd doesn’t see things this way. The Fox Sports analyst believes LA fans are getting too excited about this incoming batch of players.
The Herd w/ Colin Cowherd host compared the Lakers’ fanbase to a small-market team getting “defensive” about their new-look roster.
“Los Angeles has become Green Bay, Wisconsin,” he said. “You’ve talked yourself into something that’s simply not true. The Lakers will now be the oldest roster in NBA history.”

Cowherd called the Lakers’ pursuit of aging players “desperate.”
“All these players the Lakers have added, are any of them great? No. Are any of them in their prime? No,” he said. “So the entire Lakers roster has one player who’s great and in their prime: Anthony Davis.”
With this unique combination of young talent and aging veterans, LeBron James and Anthony Davis will look to prove Cowherd wrong in 2021-22.
