Lakers: The Carmelo Anthony for Sixth Man of the Year discussion has become unavoidable, but is it plausible?

Entering Wednesday’s game with Houston, Anthony has now scored at least 20 points in back-to-back games. On Sunday, he added four blocks and two steals, the first time he hit those marks in a game since he was a rookie in 2003.
With the significant caveat that it came against the rebuilding Rockets, that showing at least raised the possibility that Anthony can find ways to be effective defensively.
“He’s had the mindset of coming in and pulling his own weight, and then some, on the defensive side of the ball,” Vogel said.
And if he continues to shoot the ball as well as he has … well, that is where the Sixth Man of the Year discussion becomes unavoidable.
Anthony won’t shoot 50 percent from 3 for an entire season, but a new career-high is certainly in play. And his attempts per game are likely to come down once the Lakers get healthy, but by how much?
If the Lakers become the best team in the West, and Anthony consistently performs as he has in the early going of the season, he will be a very easy guy to vote for.
