It’s finally happening; Carmelo Anthony is teaming up with LeBron James this upcoming season.
Anthony announced on Tuesday that he’s signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. He joins a Lakers team that’s undergone a significant rebuild this offseason.
The Lakers are obviously built on James and Anthony Davis. They’ve also added former MVP Russell Westbrook and now Anthony all while losing key role players like Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Alex Caruso and Montrezl Harrell.
Anthony is a big pickup for the Lakers. He’s old, but still a significant scoring threat. He’ll provide plenty of sparks for the Lakers this upcoming season.

The Lakers have also added Trevor Ariza, Wayne Ellington, Dwight Howard, Kent Bazemore and Malik Monk. It’s an interesting grouping, especially considering several have played for the Lakers before.
So what could the Lakers’ starting lineup look like this upcoming season? LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook are sure-fire starters. We could see Carmelo Anthony slip in the starting lineup or come off the bench. Marc Gasol will probably hold down the center spot. The real question is at shooting guard.
The Lakers could very well utilize a mammoth starting lineup with James at PG, Westbrook at SG, Anthony at SF, Davis at PF and Gasol at center. That’s a pretty deadly lineup full of scoring options and a couple elite defensive players.
The bottom line is the Lakers have options. They have experienced former and current star players. It’s going to be interesting to see how this all comes together in Los Angeles this upcoming season.
