The Big Picture
This is the final game of the 2023-24 regular season and the final Clippers regular season home game ever at Crypto.com Arena.
Aside from nostalgia purposes, this Sunday matinee game against the Houston Rockets is rather meaningless.
The Clippers have secured the fourth seed in the West and will face the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs.
Expect the game to follow a similar script to Friday’s game against the Utah Jazz. The starters will play in the first quarter and then sit for the remainder of the game. Russell Westbrook and Norman Powell will sit after halftime.
It will be another opportunity for the younger guys to get rotation minutes. It will also be an opportunity for the Clippers and their fans to get a look at recently signed Kai Jones.
The Antagonist
The Houston Rockets come to town having been eliminated from postseason contention. They aren’t even playing spoiler since the Clippers already have their playoff spot and seed locked up.
Just like for the Clippers, this game will serve as an opportunity for the younger guys and prospects to get game action. Think of it as a slightly more glorified G League game. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
