The Dodgers relied heavily on their bullpen throughout their October 2024 march to a championship. Now they’ve added one of the top free-agent relief arms available on the market, signing left-hander Tanner Scott to a four-year, $72 million contract on January 23, 2025.
Scott had a 1.75 ERA, 2.96 xERA, and 22 saves in 72 games between the Marlins and Padres in 2024, with 84 strikeouts and 36 walks in 72 innings. He turned 30 in July, and this contract takes Scott through 2028, his age-33 campaign.
Because Scott was traded during the season, he was not eligible to receive a qualifying offer from San Diego. As a result, the Dodgers did not have to forfeit any draft picks to sign him.
Scott joins a deep and experienced bullpen, including Blake Treinen, Evan Phillips, Michael Kopech all with closing experience, plus Alex Vesia, who saved six games between the regular season and postseason with a sub-2.00 ERA in 2024.
