Newcomer Roki Sasaki is No. 1 overall, just like at Baseball America. Dalton Rushing & Josue De Paula crack MLB Pipeline top 50
MLB Pipeline on Friday unveiled its top 100 prospects heading into the 2025 season, including six Dodgers minor leaguers. Roki Sasaki, who was introduced at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, was ranked No. 1 overall.
Sasaki, the 23-year-old right-hander signed for a $6.5 million signing bonus, was also ranked No. 1 overall by Baseball America earlier in the week.
By being named to at least two top-100 lists among Baseball America, ESPN, and MLB Pipeline (ESPN has not yet revealed their list), Sasaki would qualify the Dodgers for a potential prospect promotion incentive. If Sasaki, whom the Dodgers plan to start the season in the majors, accrues an entire year of service time in 2025, the team could net an extra draft pick after the first round either if Sasaki wins Rookie of the Year this year or finishes in the top three in Cy Young Award voting prior to qualifying for salary arbitration.
Dalton Rushing is the next-highest Dodgers prospect on MLB Pipeline’s list, ranked No. 30 overall, up from 75th last January. Rushing was also ranked No. 30 by Baseball America, and was 22nd on the Baseball Prospectus top-101 list.
The other Dodgers’ consensus top-50 prospect so far is outfielder Josue De Paula, who is ranked 40th overall by MLB Pipeline. De Paula, who hit .268/.404/.405 with a 130 wRC+ between Low-A Rancho Cucamonga and High-A Great Lakes, was ranked No. 8 at Baseball Prospectus and 47th by Baseball America. He won’t turn 20 years old until May.
Rounding out the Dodgers contingent in the top 100 at MLB Pipeline was a trio bunched closely togehter. Left-handed pitcher Jackson Ferris is ranked No. 71, shortstop Alex Freeland is 72nd, and outfielder Zyhir Hope was ranked No. 75.
Rushing, De Paula, Ferris, Freeland, and Hope are all ranked in the top 100 by Baseball America, Baseball Prospectus, and MLB Pipeline to date. Those five, plus Sasaki, are among the 24 players invited to Dodgers big league camp in spring training as non-roster invitees.
