He suffered a bicep injury in the NLCS
Whether or not he’s pitching for the Dodgers in 2022, it looks like Joe Kelly will miss the start of the season.
After starting Game 5 of the NLCS, Kelly left the game with a bicep strain. According to Jorge Castillo of the LA Times, the injury is pretty significant and it’ll cost him the beginning of the 2022 season.
How long he’ll be out remains a question, but that certainly isn’t good news considering we’re five months away.
In addition to that Kelly news, Castillo also wrote about the Dodgers being expected to pay Kelly a $4 million buyout instead of picking up the option on his contract. This makes sense, as the Dodgers can likely bring him back on a cheaper deal, especially since he’ll be missing time due to the injury.
