Orel Hershiser, a close contact of Davis, will also miss games in quarantine
Dodgers play-by-play broadcaster Joe Davis tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss games for the immediate future.
In a statement, the Dodgers said Davis, who is fully vaccinated, is quarantining at home. Analyst Orel Hershiser is also in quarantine as a close contact of Davis, and will miss games as well. The timing of their returns to the booth is yet to be determined.
“We wish them both well and look forward to safely welcoming them back to the Dodger broadcast,” the team added in a statement.
Tim Neverett will step into the play-by-play role on SportsNet LA, as he has done all season when Davis is away on national assignments for Fox. Neverett will be joined by a rotating group of analysts, with Ned Colletti on the broadcast for Wednesday’s Dodgers-Rockies game.
Dodgers broadcasters have not traveled to road games this season, except for on-field reporters Kirsten Watson or David Vassegh going to some games. Watson is in Denver for the current series at Coors Field. TV and radio broadcasters have been calling road games from Dodger Stadium the last two seasons.
