Jo Lasorda, the widow of Dodger Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda, passed away Monday evening surrounded by loved ones at her home in Fullerton at the age of 91.
Jo was born on March 14, 1930, in Greenville, South Carolina. She met Tommy, then a left-handed pitcher, at a Single-A Greenville Spinners minor league game. The two went on a lunch date in 1949, at which point Tommy predicted they’d get married. A year later, his prediction came true on April 14, 1950.
Jo and Tommy were married for 70 years before Tommy passed away on Jan. 7 of this year. Jo leaves a daughter, Laura, and a granddaughter, Emily Tess. She is survived by one sister, Gladys Reeves of Greenville. Funeral services are pending.
