Under the category of “Now there’s something you don’t see everyday,” the Dodgers won Game-1 of the 2025 National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers on, of all things, a six-pitch bases-loaded walk of Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts by Brewers right-hander Abner Uribe with one out in the top of the ninth inning in front of a sold out American Family Field crowd of 41,737 on Monday.
No, really.

It gets worse – for Brewers fans, that is.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy‘s team scored their only run in the bottom of the ninth inning to make it 2-1, meaning that Uribe walked in the game-winning run.

The Dodgers other run came on a 362-foot solo home run to right field by Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman with one out in the top of the sixth.

But Monday’s game wasn’t a walk in the park (pun intended) for Dodgers manager Dave Roberts‘ team. In that eventful bottom of the ninth, 23-year-old Dodgers defacto closer Roki Sasaki walked two of the five Brewers batters he faced and surrendered the Brewers (thankfully) only run on a one out sacrafice fly by Brewers right fielder Jackson Chourio to make it a 2-1 game. But now with two outs, Sasaki walked always dangerous Brewers designated hitter Christian Yelich, thereby putting the tying and winning runs on base.
It was painfully clear that the popular Rikuzentakata, Japan native did not have it. Fortunately, 37-year-old Dodgers right-hander Blake Treinen (sort of) did. After walking Brewers catcher William Contreras to load the bases, Treinen struck out Brewers second baseman Brice Turang swinging to save Sasaki and the Dodgers.

NLCS Game-1 win. (TBS)
We can only wonder what Game-2 has in store for us.
Play Ball!
