The Dodgers came into Saturday night’s game with a massive lead over the Giants. But unlike the two previous games, they weren’t looking to make this one close. They rode another solid start from Julio Urias to the win and take a whopping 15.5-game lead over San Francisco.
But Julio started off a little rocky. He immediately gave up a double to Austin Slater and worked his way out of trouble. The Dodgers southpaw would cruise for the next couple of innings, going 6 total and allowing 4 total baserunners to reach. It ended up being his 9th win of the season.
Offense
With the bats, the Dodgers brought out the long ball against former LA pitcher Alex Wood. Mookie Betts and Trea Turner went back-to-back in the 3rd inning, and Freddie Freeman launched one of his own late in the game. Gavin Lux added another triple in the game as well, driving in a run.
Bullpen
The bullpen left a little to be desired in the 9th inning. Reyes Moronta issued two consecutive walks after getting the first pair of batters out. David Price came in out of the Dodgers bullpen and allowed 2 base hits before striking out Austin Slater to end the game.
Up Next
The Dodgers and Giants will play once more tomorrow afternoon. Los Angeles will send out Clayton Kershaw to the mound looking for the 4-game sweep. He faces off against Alex Cobb for San Francisco.
