The Dodgers swap two pitchers with two more pitchers
The Dodgers made a number of roster moves ahead of their game on Thursday, as they activated Tony Gonsolin off the injured list. Additionally, the team also recalled Andre Jackson, while optioning Mitch White and designating Neftalí Féliz for assignment.
Gonsolin has been out since July 31 with right shoulder inflammation. That was his second lengthy IL stint this season, as he’s only tossed 35 2⁄3 innings with LA in 2021. On the season, he’s 2-1 with a 2.78 ERA and has 42 strikeouts and 26 walks. He recently made a rehab appearance in Rancho Cucamonga, where he allowed one run in 2 1⁄3 innings.
With Gonsolin back, hopefully he’s able to give the Dodgers innings every fifth day, something they could desperately use.
Joining Gonsolin on the active roster will be Jackson, who will be with LA for his third stint this season. He’s appeared in two games, going 0-1 with a 1.04 ERA. In 8 2⁄3 innings, Jackson has allowed one run and has seven strikeouts. Just like Gonsolin, Jackson should be able to provide multiple innings when called upon.
White heads back down to OKC after starting for LA last night. He allowed four runs in five innings, and now is 1-3 on the season with a 3.92 ERA. In 43 2⁄3 innings he has 47 strikeouts across the span of 19 games.
Finally, Féliz gets DFA’d by the Dodgers for the second time this season. He pitched two scoreless innings this go around and has tossed three scoreless innings on the season for LA. If I were to guess, he’ll likely go unclaimed and end up back in LA’s system in the coming days.
