The lefty last appeared in a game July 16
It was just recently that Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts was optimistic about Danny Duffy returning to the mound this season to help the team in the stretch run and playoffs.
“To be a two-inning monster. I still think there’s time for that,” Roberts said. “One thing I know and is an easy bet, he’s going to do everything he can to be active and help us win a championship.”
That optimism took a big hit this weekend.
Duffy came away from the bullpen session Friday feeling something in the left elbow that has kept him out of action since July 16. The Dodgers have shut the lefty down for the time being and it’s likely Duffy doesn’t ever pitch for the team in 2021.
“It doesn’t look great,” Roberts said prior to Saturday’s game. “Outside of any type of miracle, for him to impact us this year, it’s going to be tough.”
