The future Hall-of-Famer hasn’t decided if he’ll come back for another season
For the first time in his career, Albert Pujols will be playing baseball in his home country of the Dominican Republic.
The Liga de Béisbol Profesional de la República Dominicana (LIDOM) announced Thursday that Pujols was traded from the Gigantes del Cibao to the Leones del Escogido. If you’re wondering how this is possible, it’s because Pujols was selected by the Gigantes with the first pick of LIDOM’s inaugural rookie draft in 2002, but never played for them.
In his press conference on Friday, he talked about potentially playing in 2022 .
Pujols added that his performance in the Dominican Winter League won’t determine what he ultimately decides for 2022.
